Keralam rains: IMD sounds orange alert for three districts

Parts of Keralam are likely to witness moderate to very heavy rainfall during the next 24 hours, influenced by the weather systems over the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea.
An orange alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki on Thursday (October 1, 2026), where very heavy rain is forecast during the next 24 hours, and a yellow alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Wayanad, warning of isolated heavy rains.
Isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds reaching 40-50 kmph and gusting to 60 kmph are likely over Keralam on Thursday and Friday, according to a weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday.
