Kim Chiu's sister arrested for 124 qualified theft charges in Mandaluyong City - GMA Network

The sister of actress-host Kim Chiu was arrested on Sunday afternoon in Mandaluyong City by virtue of an arrest warrant issued against her for 124 counts of Qualified Theft.

In a statement from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), businesswoman Lakambini “Lakam” Chiu was identified as the No. 6 Most Wanted Person of the Kamuning Police Station.

In a separate statement, the National Capital Region Police Office also identified the suspect as someone “who has ties to a prominent entertainment personality.”

During a manhunt operation, Lakambini was apprehended by Kamuning Police Station operatives at a parking area along Saint Francis St., Barangay Wack Wack in Mandaluyong City at around 4:06 p.m.

The suspect’s Warrant of Arrest was issued by Branch 24 of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court, which set bail at P5,838,000.00.

The suspect is currently detained at the Kamuning Police Station for booking procedures and proper legal disposition, according to the QCPD.

“No matter who the person is, a valid warrant of arrest must be enforced in accordance with the law,” QCPD Director P/BGen. Christopher Olazo said.

The QCPD will continue its intelligence-driven operations to locate wanted persons and bring them before the proper authorities,” he added.

In December 2025, Kim Chiu filed a qualified theft complaint against her older sister Lakambini Chiu, after discovering “serious financial discrepancies” in her business.

"This decision did not come easily. It is one of the most painful steps I have ever taken in my life," the actress said in a statement.

“Unfortunately, substantial amounts connected to my business assets were found missing. These discoveries forced me to take formal action to protect not just my company, but also the livelihoods of the people who work with me and the integrity of everything I have built,” she added. — BAP, GMA News
