All communications to media institutions and social media must be routed through KMRL’s public relations officer, says the circular.
Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has issued a circular, restricting officials of the metro agency from sharing information with others, citing the need to protect its public image and to improve the work culture.
The circular issued by District Collector G. Priyanka, who is holding charge of KMRL managing director, also warns of stern action against those who violate the order. It said that all letters regarding administrative purposes that are sent to government agencies, Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MoHUA), and the Railway Board must be sent only with the managing director’s permission. Likewise, the permission of the directors concerned is needed for letters pertaining to financial projects and operational matters.
In addition, all communications to media institutions and to social media must be routed through KMRL’s public relations officer. This is in view of the ‘misunderstanding’ among members of the public after the publication of some news content. It also sometimes leads to tarnishing the agency’s image and its relations at the government level, according to the circular.
The managing director can be informed of any matter in a confidential manner, if needed. Anonymous letters will not be considered, the circular said, while warning of disciplinary action against officials who violated the instructions.
