KPK Looks into Nusron Wahid's Trusted Aide in Land Bribery Case
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators are probing the flow of orders from the trusted aide to the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency, Nusron Wahid, in the alleged bribery case related to the processing of land certificates, with cash flowing into a handful of parties within the ministry.
According to KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo, the probe stemmed from a testimony from one of Nusron Wahid's trusted aides.
The investigation will look into the flow of bribe money that ended with one of Nusron Wahid's trusted aides, as well as the alleged bribery received by some parties prior to the sting operation (OTT).
A report in Tempo Magazine's September 27, 2026, edition examines the role of this trusted aide. In the article, one of the Minister of ATR/BPN's trusted aides was Arif Sugiyanto. KPK suspected Arif's role as the collector of bribe money for various cases.
Arif's role was revealed when the KPK searched his residence in Bekasi City, West Java. KPK investigators found clues regarding the flow of money collected by Arif. The anti-corruption commission found bundles of red suitcases containing cash in rupiah and foreign banknotes, totaling Rp106 billion.
KPK was also tipped that Arif allegedly received deposits from land office services from district levels all the way to ministry levels. Officers obtained records of Arif's incoming and outgoing money. "He is suspected of acting as a money collector for Erwin and Muhammad Fakhry," said KPK Acting Director of Investigations Achmad Taufik Husein.
Arif Sugiyanto's lawyer, Muhammad Fadli Nasution, said his client was being questioned about delivering money to the Nahdlatul Ulama congress. However, Arif has not yet disclosed his relationship with Nusron. "There's no story yet because he's in a state of shock and confusion," said Fadli.
Fadli objects to KPK charging Arif with bribery and gratuity because his client is not a state official. "Our client is suspected of receiving bribes, but it's unclear who gave the bribe, how much, and for what purpose," Fadli said.
Tempo attempted to contact ATR/BPN Minister Nusron Wahid regarding the suspect designation of several officials from his ministry, but there's no immediate response from the minister.
