KPK Questions 7 Witnesses in Suspected Corruption Case of New Student Admissions at Unsoed
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has questioned several witnesses regarding an alleged corruption case in the new student admission process at Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed).
During the investigation on Tuesday (15/9/2026), the KPK summoned seven witnesses, all from within the Unsoed environment.
"Today, the KPK has scheduled the examination of witnesses in a case involving alleged extortion and other forms of gratification by state officials during the new student admission process at Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed) in Purwokerto," said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a statement on Tuesday.
Among those called for questioning are Noor, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs (Warek I); Kuat Puji Prayitno, Vice Rector for General and Financial Affairs (Warek II); and Waluyo Handoko, Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Public Relations (Warek IV).
Additionally, the KPK is questioning Mochamad Sugiyarto, a lecturer at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry; Nana Sutikna, Professor of Communication Philosophy at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP); Weda Kupita, a lecturer at the Faculty of Law; and Untung Gunarto, a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine at Unsoed.
Previously, the KPK designated Unsoed Rector Akhmad Sodiq and five others as suspects in the extortion and gratification case related to new student admissions at Unsoed.
The other five suspects are Unsoed Vice Rector III for Student Affairs Norman Arie Prayogo, Head of Unsoed Academic Department Eko Sumanto, and three private individuals: Dian Mulia Wardhana, Adhi Wiharto, and Mulyono.
According to Taufik, the corruption case is divided into three clusters.
The first cluster involves Vice Rector III for Student Affairs Norman Arie Prayogo, who allegedly, through Dian and Adhi, demanded Rp 650 million from the parents of prospective students entering the Faculty of Medicine through the independent admission pathway.
Although the payment was made, the candidate still failed the selection, prompting the parents to request a refund.
However, the money had already been spent for the personal use of Dian and Adhi, so the refund was made using funds disbursed from a procurement project package at Unsoed, carried out by Mulyono, who is Sodiq’s nephew.
The second cluster involves Mulyono, who, with Sodiq’s knowledge, allegedly received Rp 680 million in gratification related to new student admissions through the independent pathway for 2025 and 2026.
Akhmad Sodiq is also suspected of instructing Mulyono to make payments for the purchase of three plots of land, which were subsequently registered under Mulyono’s name.
"Thus, in this matter, MYN (Mulyono) acted as both recipient and manager of funds intended for ASO (Sodiq)," said Taufik.
The third cluster, occurring during the same period, involves Eko Sumanto, head of the Unsoed Academic Department, who communicated with a party collecting prospective students at Unsoed.
With Akhmad Sodiq’s knowledge, Eko negotiated a 'bride price' with this collector in the independent new student admission process.
After agreeing on the 'bride price,' Eko received a total of Rp 1.12 billion from the collector.
"Upon receiving the money, ES (Eko Sumanto) reported it to ASO, who then provided ES with user ID access to authorize or approve candidates who had paid," explained Taufik.
The suspects are charged with violating Article 12 letter e or Article 12B of Law Number 31 Year 1999 on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes as amended by Law Number 20 Year 2001, in conjunction with Article 20 letter (c) of Law Number 1 Year 2023 on the Criminal Code.
