KPK Seizes 20 Suitcases of Cash in ATR/BPN Corruption Sting

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has seized hundreds of billions of rupiah in cash—stored in 20 suitcases—following a sting operation (OTT) involving the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN).

"The team secured evidence, including cash—both rupiah and foreign currency—wrapped and packed into boxes, cartons, and suitcases, totaling around 20 items," said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK's Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Monday, September 14, 2026.

Budi added that the exact amount of the seized money is still being tallied by the KPK team.

"The counting process is currently underway, but the estimated total reaches hundreds of billions of rupiah," he said.

Earlier, the KPK confirmed it had conducted its 20th sting operation of the year.

The operation was linked to alleged corruption regarding the processing of Building Use Rights (HGB) titles.

The KPK stated that it had arrested 17 individuals during the operation, including Lampri, the Director General of Land and Spatial Control and Enforcement at the Ministry of ATR/BPN; Sontang Coin Manurung, Head of the Bogor Regency Land Office; and Tardi, Head of the Tangerang City Land Office.

Also arrested were Fahd Arafiq, a Central Executive Board (DPP) member of the Golkar Party, and Arif Sugiyanto, the former Regent of Kebumen.

Under the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the KPK has a 24-hour window to determine the legal status of the individuals arrested in the operation.
