Octavia Swartz was reported missing on Sunday afternoon, and her body was discovered by farmers on Monday.

A 14-year-old boy was also arrested, but he has been returned to the care of his parents after the matter was not enrolled at the Blue Downs Magistrates Court.

The docket has been returned to police for further investigation, and it is unclear whether the boy is still a suspect.

CPF chairperson Arifa Osman said:  "We also want to appeal to anyone who may have relevant information to provide it directly to the investigating authorities rather than sharing (it) on social media. You can also remain anonymous when doing so."

Osman said the farm community, where Swartz lived, was reeling.

"The community and we as CPF of Kraaifontein are deeply saddened and shocked by the death of this young girl. Her whole life was still ahead of her. There is a strong sense of grief, anger and concern within the community."
