Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Thursday challenged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to agree to a comprehensive inquiry by a sitting Supreme Court judge into the assets of both their families.

Responding to the Chief Minister’s remarks on his assets at a public meeting in Sircilla on Wednesday, Mr. Rama Rao said he was ready for a probe into his assets and those of the Chief Minister’s family.

Speaking at Telangana Bhavan after several Congress and BJP leaders and workers from the Armoor Assembly constituency joined the BRS, Mr. Rao said he had worked in the United States for six years before starting a hotel business in 2006. He said details of his assets and business interests had been disclosed in his 2009 election affidavit.

The BRS leader also raised questions over business dealings and tenders involving members of the Chief Minister’s family and close associates, alleging that they had amassed properties worth thousands of crores. . He questioned how a company linked to Mr. Revanth Reddy’s close relative could secure a high-value tender despite, according to him, not meeting the eligibility criteria. He also sought answers regarding qualifications and opportunities in the aerospace sector of Revanth Reddy’s family members.

Referring to the Congress government’s allegations against the previous BRS regime, Mr. Rama Rao questioned the outcome of the inquiries into the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), power purchases, Formula-E and bank accounts. He alleged that new issues were being raised to divert public attention from the Congress poll promises.

Mr. Rama Rao also criticised Mr. Revanth Reddy’s recent visit to Sircilla, alleging that the government had failed to address the problems of handloom workers.

Mr. Rama Rao also questioned the implementation of the party’s six guarantees and other poll promises.
