Stranded in Muscat after being cheated on the pretext of providing employment, Tuppudu Lakshmi’s family approached working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) K.T. Rama Rao in a desperate situation. Within a month of assuring her son that he would bring his mother home, Mr. Rama Rao fulfilled his promise.
Ms. Tuppudu Lakshmi, wife of Venkatappa, a resident of Gokafasalwad village in Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s Kodangal constituency, met Mr. Rama Rao on Tuesday at the party office here and expressed her heartfelt gratitude for ensuring her safe return home from Muscat.
According to Mr. Rama Rao’s office, Ms. Lakshmi had travelled to Muscat on February 27 in search of employment, hoping to support her family. However, upon reaching there, she was assigned work that was different from what the agent had promised. Her employer (Kafeel) allegedly confiscated her passport and refused to send her back home.
The agent who had sent her abroad stopped answering her calls and reportedly demanded ₹2 lakh to arrange her return. Her Wi-Fi and SIM card were disconnected, leaving her completely cut-off from her family. In a desperate attempt to contact her loved ones, she managed to access a neighbour’s internet connection and reached out to her son, narrating the ordeal she was going through.
Unable to bear his mother’s suffering and desperate to bring her back home safely, her son Raju approached Mr. Rama Rao on September 29 and shared their family’s distressing situation. Mr. Rama Rao assured Mr. Raju that he would secure his mother’s passport and bring her back to India within a month.
Keeping his word, Mr. Rama Rao wrote to the concerned officials and facilitated Ms. Lakshmi’s safe return to India. Overwhelmed with gratitude after reuniting with her family, Ms. Lakshmi met Mr. Rama Rao on Tuesday after returning to Hyderabad and thanked him for standing by them when they had nowhere else to turn.
“KTR Anna promised my son that he would bring me back within a month. He kept his word and brought me home. I can never forget what he has done for me and my family. My heartfelt thanks to KTR Anna”, Ms. Lakshmi said in gratitude.
