Ladoja urges prayers, low-key coronation anniversary - Punch Newspapers

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has implored the people and friends of Ibadan to use the twin occasions of his birthday and coronation anniversary to give thanks and offer prayers to God, rather than resort to elaborate merriment. This was contained in a statement issued by his media aide, Chief Adeola Oloko, in Ibadan, the state capital, on Sunday. The PUNCH reports that the prominent royal father and statesman would be 82 years old on Friday, September 25, and one year on the Olubadan throne on Saturday, September 26, a day after his birthday. Oba Ladoja, who noted that while he himself had chosen to use the occasions of his birthday and coronation anniversary to give thanks to God and pray for himself, the Ibadan Traditional Institution, Ibadanland, Oyo State and Nigeria, said he would not expect any less from the people. He said, “Those who love us, and Ibadan should please join us in giving thanks to God, and in committing the years ahead into His hands.
