Lagos assembly confirms 12 nominees for state commissions, boards - Punch Newspapers
The Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday confirmed 12 nominees forwarded by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for appointment to two commissions and a state agency board. The confirmation followed the presentation of a report by the 12-member Screening Committee, chaired by Mr Fatai Mojeed, during plenary. Presenting the report, Mojeed said the committee carefully assessed the nominees based on their credentials, appearance, performance and comportment. βThe committeeβs recommendations are subject to the consideration and approval of the whole House,β he said. Following the presentation, the Speaker, Mr Mudashiru Obasa, subjected the recommendations to a voice vote. The lawmakers unanimously adopted the committeeβs report and confirmed all 12 nominees for the respective commissions and agency board. The confirmed nominees include Mr Murusiq Durosimi and Mr Ahmed Seriki as members of the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission. The House also confirmed Mr Goriola Oyenusi, Mr Bode Makinde, Mr Adekunle Adelaja and Mr Opeyemi Adetunji as members of the LNSA Board. For the Lagos State Audit Service Commission, the Assembly confirmed Mrs Kikelomo Dawodu and Mrs Bukola Ogunowo. Other confirmed members of the Audit Service Commission are Mrs Omotayo Gbajabiamila-Olamona, Mr Bowale Shosimi and Mr Sunday Kappo. The confirmation followed the lawmakersβ consideration of the screening report submitted by the committee after its assessment of the nominees. The Assemblyβs action was in accordance with its constitutional and statutory responsibilities regarding appointments requiring legislative confirmation.
