BARMM POLLS. Abdul Rauf Adiong is the nephew of Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Adiong Jr. and the bet of the Serbisyong Inklusibo-Alyansang Progresibo Party in Lanao del Sur's third parliamentary district.

COTABATO CITY, Philippines – Abdul Rauf Adiong, nephew of Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Adiong Jr., is on the verge of winning the province’s 3rd District seat in the Bangsamoro parliamentary elections.

Adiong has received 54,454 votes, according to 92.38% of total election returns, as of September 14, 9:59 pm.

He holds a wide lead over his closest competitor, independent candidate Edrieza Rimbang, who has 19,521 votes. Currently in third place is United Bangsamoro Justice Party bet Jamel Ditucalan Macaraya with 7,347 votes, while independent candidate Sittie Saleha Mangurun trails the race with 285 votes.

Both Macaraya and Rimbang were former members of the Bangsamoro Parliament, while Mangurun is a former barangay chairperson of Malinao in Tagoloan.

Adiong ran under his uncle’s party, the Serbisyong Inklusibo-Alyansang Progresibo Party. The Adiong scion is the son of Ditsaan-Ramain Mayor Ansaruddin Abdul Malik Alonto Adiong and the grandson of the late former Lanao del Sur governor Mamintal Adiong Sr. – Rappler.com
