Days after calling for AI development to slow down and warning that the risks posed by advanced AI models are “serious”, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei is now putting the advanced AI from his Claude family to work inside Salesforce. Anthropic has partnered with Salesforce on Claudeforce, bringing Claude into the CRM platform and offering businesses AI tools that can reason over customer data, review deals and even take action on sales pipelines.

Salesforce and Anthropic announced their expanded partnership last month under the name Claudeforce. It brings Claude into Salesforce, Agentforce and Slack, while also making Salesforce data and workflows available inside Claude. The first major product from the partnership, Salesforce in Claude, is now available in beta and comes with 37 pre-built sales skills. What is Claudeforce

Well, as part of this partnership, Anthropic will be weaving Claude directly into the tools sales teams already use. With Salesforce in Claude, sellers can bring their accounts, opportunities and sales pipeline into a Claude conversation instead of manually jumping between customer records and reports. Salesforce users can now ask Claude to prepare for a customer call, review a deal, analyse their pipeline, create a dashboard or generate a forecast, all from within the same conversation.

And the partnership goes beyond the Salesforce plugin. Claude is also being integrated into Salesforce’s Agentforce platform, where it can serve as a reasoning model for the Atlas Reasoning Engine and power Agentforce Vibes and Agentforce Coworker. In Slack, Claude is becoming the default model for Slack AI and Slackbot, allowing conversations in the workplace to connect with governed actions in Salesforce.

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff has described the partnership as a combination of Claude’s “probabilistic” AI and Salesforce’s deterministic systems. In simple terms, Claude brings the ability to reason and handle complex tasks, while Salesforce provides the underlying customer data, workflows and business rules.

Amodei has similarly said the integration allows companies to use Claude with the customer information and business context they have built up in Salesforce over the years.Amodei says AI is not SaaS killer

Interestingly, the partnership brings together two companies that sit on opposite sides of the debate around AI and SaaS. Salesforce is one of the biggest names in enterprise SaaS, while Anthropic has increasingly been seen as a potential “SaaS killer” as its Claude agents become capable of carrying out tasks that traditionally required users to work inside software applications.

But Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has pushed back on the idea that Claude is simply meant to replace SaaS. In an earlier interview with CNBC, he said the company's goal was not to “destroy” SaaS companies, arguing that AI agents and existing software could instead work together.Amodei asks for pause in AI development

The integration of Claudeforce also comes at a time when Silicon Valley is debating the potential risks of advanced AI agents and AGI. Amodei himself earlier this week published an essay titled “We Must Pace the Frontier”, in which he argued that AI companies should slow the rate at which they improve the capabilities of their models. He said AI was advancing “drastically faster” and warned that the technology’s ability to build the next generation of AI could lead to recursive self-improvement that eventually outruns humanity’s ability to understand and control these systems.

To control the potential catastrophic risks, Amodei has proposed a different approach. His proposal is not to stop AI development altogether, but to “build AI at a balanced rate”, while giving companies time to improve alignment, security and testing.

His three-part plan calls for embedded third-party evaluators, coordination between frontier AI companies in democratic countries and, eventually, broader international coordination. Anthropic has committed to the first step, according to Amodei.- EndsPublished By: Divya BhatiPublished On: Sep 16, 2026 10:49 ISTAlso Read | Another OpenAI researcher warns AI may go out of control, destroy humanityAlso Read | Shock, anxiety, job gone just before wedding, Oracle employees share thoughts after layoffsAlso Read | Anthropic with best AI is like Hitler with nuclear bomb, DeepSeek engineer says communism only viable future
