In an update to the media on Tuesday (3 November), a National Transportation Safety Board spokesperson revealed the Learjet’s left elevator - a control surface located on the the tail of the aircraft which controls its vertical pitch - had been found in three pieces between 1.3-3.8 miles away from the crash crater.

Spokesperson Tom Chappell confirmed investigation of the crater, which had been delayed due to debris obstructing access, would likely begin tomorrow, with other ‘critical components’ of the aircraft expected to be found.
