ANC mayoral candidate and incumbent Lesedi Local Municipality Mayor Mluleki Nkosi has expressed confidence that the party will retain control of the municipality following the local government elections.

Nkosi cast his vote at Fountain Five Primary School in Ratanda on Wednesday morning, describing the experience as encouraging and expressing satisfaction with voter turnout across the area.

“It feels very, very encouraging and very, very good to exercise my right as a citizen of Lesedi Local Municipality. I have cast my vote and voted for my favourite organisation, which is the African National Congress, and I’m very proud,” Nkosi told EWN News.

The mayor, who has been at the helm of the municipality for the past five years, said the ANC was confident of its electoral prospects, citing what he described as improvements in service delivery and infrastructure development.

“As a party, we are very confident. We have done our state work. We have campaigned profusely, and obviously, in the city, service delivery is there,” he said.

Nkosi pointed to road upgrades, housing developments and the construction of community amenities, including stadiums and halls, as some of the administration’s achievements.

He also identified the proposed Special Economic Zone (SEZ) as a key driver of future economic growth, saying the municipality was working to attract investors and create employment opportunities.
