Life-term prisoner escapes from Ajmer jail, cops launch manhunt

A prisoner serving a life sentence in a murder case escaped from the open jail at Ajmer Central Jail in Rajasthan, prompting police to launch a search for him.

The fugitive has been identified as Azharuddin alias Kuka, who was lodged in the open jail while serving his life sentence in a murder case registered under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.

According to a complaint filed by the jail superintendent at the Civil Lines police station, the prisoner was found missing during a scheduled roll call. Jail officials conducted the prescribed attendance check, but Azharuddin was not present.

It was subsequently discovered that the convict had escaped from the open jail.

Following the complaint, Civil Lines police registered a case and began efforts to trace and apprehend Azharuddin.

The police and jail authorities are now working to ascertain the circumstances surrounding his escape and track down his whereabouts.
