Live, September 26: India begin archery campaign, eye more athletics medals

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of India's campaign at the Asian Games for Saturday, September 26.

Day 8 of the Asian Games promises another packed schedule for India, with medal opportunities spread across several disciplines from the early morning onwards.

The action begins at 4:00 AM IST, when Sawan Barwal and Kartik Karkera line up in the men’s marathon final. The women’s 50m rifle 3 positions team will then be in action at 6:15 AM, with India hoping to add to its shooting medal tally.

Canoe sprint will provide another medal opportunity as Raju Rawat and L Neha Devi compete in the mixed canoe double 500m Final A.

Kabaddi will take the spotlight later in the morning, with both Indian teams playing their gold-medal matches against Iran. The women’s final is scheduled for 9:30 AM, while the men’s title clash will get underway at 2:30 PM.

There will also be plenty of action in squash. Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar will feature in the mixed doubles semifinal, while Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh will compete in their respective singles semifinals.

The athletics programme will provide the evening’s biggest medal opportunities. Tajinderpal Singh Toor and Karanveer Singh will contest the men’s shot put final, followed by Praveen Chithravel and Karthik Unnikrishnan in the men’s triple jump final. Parul Chaudhary and Pooja will then take the track for the women’s 1500m final.

India’s athletes and teams will also be in action across badminton, boxing, fencing, archery, hockey, table tennis, surfing, sailing and esports, making Day 8 another busy one for the Indian contingent.
