Lord Malayappa, as Panduranga, rides ‘Chinna Sesha Vahanam’

Lord Malayappa being taken out in a grand procession on ‘Chinna Sesha Vahanam’ as part of the annual Brahmotsavams in Tirumala on Wednesday.

The ‘Chinna Sesha Vahanam’ procession was organised in Tirumala on the second day on Wednesday as part of the ongoing nine-day annual Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara.

The processional deity, Lord Malayappa, adorned as Lord Panduranga, was taken in a grand procession atop the celestial carrier along the mada streets of the hill shrine. A large number of bhajan and cultural troupes accompanying the procession presented traditional performances that drew the attention of devotees gathered along the streets.

Artistes from Varanasi presented episodes from the Sri Ramayana, while performers from Tamil Nadu staged the traditional Oliyattam. Cultural troupes from Andhra Pradesh presented Edukula Vaibhavam.

In the afternoon, ‘Snapana Thirumanjanam’ was performed to Lord Malayappa and His two consorts at the Ranganayakula Mandapam inside the temple complex. The deities were given a ceremonial bath and adorned with special garlands made of aromatic flowers and other traditional offerings.

The day concluded with ‘Hamsa Vahanam’ procession in the evening. Artistes from Jharkhand presented ‘Chhau’, showcasing martial movements and episodes from the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, while a Gujarati troupe performed ‘Garba’.

Earlier, TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu, Executive Officer M. Ravindra and Additional Executive Officer Venkaiah Chowdary, at a meeting with Srivari Seva volunteers, appealed to them to maintain humility and treat devotees with courtesy while rendering service during the annual fete.
