Madhya Pradesh influencer found hanging, lover who alerted family goes missing

A social media influencer from Madhya Pradesh's Singrauli, died by suicide at her home on Saturday evening. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death, while a man identified as Sonu Singh, who was reportedly speaking to Nidhi Tiwari shortly before the incident, has gone missing.

Nidhi, who had around 16 lakh followers across Facebook and Instagram , was found hanging inside an upstairs room of her house in Bhusa Mod. Nidhi had gone upstairs after performing puja downstairs and was wearing a Bluetooth earpiece.

Her mother, Hemlata Tiwari, said Nidhi received a call from Sonu Singh after going upstairs. The family later went to check on her after Sonu informed Hemlata that Nidhi was attempting suicide.

When the family reached the upstairs room, the door was locked and there was no response. Relatives were called and the door was broken open. Nidhi was found hanging from a ceiling fan with a dupatta.

The family brought her down and rushed her to hospital, where doctors declared her dead.MOTHER SAYS SONU KEPT NIDHI UNDER CONSTANT WATCH

Nidhi's mother has alleged that Sonu Singh kept a constant watch on her daughter and remained in contact with her for most of the time.

According to Hemlata, Nidhi worked as a receptionist at Hotel GS Grand in Morwa. The area has offices of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), and employees of companies working under NCL's outsourcing contracts frequently stayed at the hotel.

Hemlata said Sonu, who worked as an engineer with an NCL outsourcing company, used to visit Singrauli frequently and stayed at the same hotel. It was there that he and Nidhi met and their friendship later turned into a relationship, according to her.

She alleged that Sonu would often remain connected with Nidhi through a Bluetooth earpiece and kept track of her online and offline activities. According to Hemlata, Nidhi would remain connected to him even when relatives visited the house because Sonu would allegedly question her about their presence.

Hemlata further claimed that Sonu was married and had two children. She said the family had tried to stop Nidhi from remaining in close contact with him after learning about his marital status, but she continued to speak to him.

Sonu is reportedly from Punjab and has gone missing after Nidhi's death. His mobile phone has also been switched off. Police are looking for him and are investigating his connection with Nidhi and the circumstances surrounding their conversation before her death.NIDHI WORKED AT A HOTEL AND WAS BUILDING A HOUSE

According to her mother, Nidhi was the eldest daughter and was taking responsibility for the entire family. She worked as a receptionist at Hotel GS Grand in Morwa and was also building a large house in Singrauli's Baidhan area.

Hemlata said Nidhi often remained under stress. She said Nidhi's father, Ashok Tiwari, had worked at a power plant and was later transferred, after which he left the family and, according to Hemlata, did not maintain contact with them. She said she had raised and brought up the children herself.

On the day of the incident, Hemlata said Nidhi performed puja downstairs before going to the upstairs room with a Bluetooth earpiece in her ear. She later received a call from Sonu Singh, following which the family went upstairs and found the door locked.NIDHI HAD 16 LAKH SOCIAL MEDIA FOLLOWERS

Nidhi was known as a social media influencer and was active on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. She had around nine lakh followers on Facebook and seven lakh on Instagram, taking her combined following across the two platforms to around 16 lakh.

She also participated in local events and had won several titles in beauty contests. Her social media accounts contain several reels.

Morwa police station in-charge Dr Gyanendra Singh said police were investigating all aspects of the case. He said the actual reason behind Nidhi's suicide would be known only after the investigation is completed.FAMILY BACKGROUND

Nidhi was the elder daughter of Ashok Tiwari and Hemlata Tiwari. Ashok was originally from Mainpuri district in Uttar Pradesh and worked at a power plant in Singrauli.

During his time in Singrauli, he bought land and built a house in the Bhusa Mod area of Morwa. After retiring from the power plant company, he returned to his native district of Mainpuri, while his wife and daughters continued to live in Singrauli.

Nidhi was unmarried. Her sister Sheetal Tiwari is married to Nilesh Mishra, who is from Singrauli. The family also includes their younger daughter, Mamta Tiwari.NIDHI'S LAST FACEBOOK POST

Nidhi's last few Facebook posts have drawn attention following her death. In one of the posts, she wrote, “No one completed this incomplete heart, so I completed it myself. That is why they say, love yourself, not someone else. Search for yourself within yourself. How long will you keep searching for yourself in someone else?” NIdhi Tiwari's latest post on Facebook.
