Maharashtra man arrested in cyber fraud case in Adilabad

The Adilabad One-Town police arrested a 25-year-old man from Maharashtra for allegedly duping a resident of Adilabad town of ₹73,279 by impersonating a bank official in July this year.
The accused was identified as Chaitanya Pramod, 25, from Akola district of Maharashtra.
Acting on a complaint, the police traced the accused using technical evidence obtained through the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP) and arrested him in Maharashtra.
According to the police, the accused allegedly duped Prapul of Adilabad of ₹73,279 by posing as a bank official on the pretext of activating his credit card.
The investigation further revealed that the accused was allegedly involved in cyber frauds totalling around ₹95.33 lakh across Telangana, Maharashtra and Goa and had reportedly duped nearly 150 people by posing as a bank official.
Adilabad Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan on Monday presented cash rewards to members of the police team in recognition of their meticulous investigation which led to the arrest of the accused.
