Mahindra is set to launch the facelifted Thar 3-door next week, with the updated lifestyle SUV expected to get a host of styling changes inspired by the larger Thar Roxx. The mechanical package, however, is likely to remain unchanged.

The Thar 3-door was last updated in October 2025, but Mahindra is now preparing another update focused primarily on its exterior design. Test mules of the facelifted SUV have already been spotted on public roads, revealing several changes that bring the three-door Thar visually closer to its five-door sibling.advertisementโฎโฏ Read Full StoryThar facelift gets Roxx-inspired front endThe most significant changes are expected at the front. The facelifted Thar is likely to get circular LED headlamps mounted flush with the grille, replacing the recessed units seen on the current SUV. The headlamps are expected to feature C-shaped LED daytime running lights, giving the three-door model a stronger resemblance to the Thar Roxx.

The six-slot grille will also be redesigned and is expected to feature a new two-piece layout. The front bumper and turn indicators are likely to receive minor revisions as part of the update.

The current Thar uses halogen headlamps with separate LED DRLs, making the new lighting setup one of the most visible changes on the facelifted model.New alloy wheels and revised tail-lamps

Changes to the side profile are expected to be limited to new alloy wheels. Test vehicles have been spotted wearing a new design that appears similar to the alloys offered on the Thar Roxx.

At the rear, the vertically stacked LED tail-lamps are expected to retain their overall shape but could get revised internal graphics. Mahindra could also introduce new exterior colour options with the facelift. No major mechanical changes

Despite the styling overhaul, the facelifted Thar 3-door is not expected to receive any major mechanical changes. It should continue with the existing 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, 2.2-litre diesel and 1.5-litre diesel engine options.

The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine produces 152bhp and 300Nm, while the 2.2-litre diesel develops 132bhp and 300Nm. The 1.5-litre diesel makes 119bhp and 300Nm.

A six-speed manual gearbox is expected to continue across the range, while the six-speed automatic will remain available with the 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines.

Four-wheel drive is likely to continue with the 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel in both manual and automatic configurations. The turbo-petrol automatic should also remain available with rear-wheel drive.Thar facelift launch next week

The upcoming update is essentially a design-led refresh, with Mahindra expected to bring several of the Thar Roxx's styling elements to the smaller three-door SUV. Apart from giving the Thar a fresher appearance, greater parts commonality with the Roxx could also help streamline production.

With testing already underway, Mahindra is expected to launch the facelifted Thar 3-door in India next week, giving the SUV a more contemporary look without altering its core mechanical package.
