Man killed in Faridabad hit-and-run, son questions probe; cops say driver arrested

A man was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Faridabad on August 27, and his family is now demanding action against the car driver.

The case has also led to a contradiction between the victim’s son and the police.

While the son has claimed that no arrest has been made, the police said the accused driver was arrested and had already been granted bail.advertisement❮❯ Read Full StoryTHE ACCIDENTLaxmi Narayan Jhawar was returning home on foot after visiting a temple in the evening when a car hit him near his home in Faridabad, according to the FIR.

It states that Jhawar was around 100 metres from his home and the vehicle then ran over him before the driver fled the spot.

CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, showing the car hitting and running over Jhawar. His family has alleged that they provided the footage to the police.

Jhawar's son, Amit, who said he works as a product manager at Meta, has questioned the police investigation and alleged that the probe has been slow.

Amit said he personally provided the CCTV footage to the police and questioned why the accused had not been arrested.

He also claimed that the car was travelling at a very high speed, leaving his father with little chance to avoid the collision.

He has demanded a thorough investigation and action against those responsible.

Amit has also sought an investigation to establish who was inside the car at the time of the accident.

He said Faridabad has around 25,000 smart cameras and claimed their footage could help identify the occupants of the vehicle.

He has further sought an investigation into whether the driver was using a phone or was intoxicated at the time of the accident.

Amit also questioned whether the sections invoked in the FIR adequately cover all aspects of the case and whether additional sections should be added based on the investigation.POLICE CONTRADICTS SON'S CLAIM

However, Surajkund police station SHO Prahlad Singh gave a different account, saying the accused driver has already been arrested.

According to the SHO, the accused was produced in court after his arrest and was subsequently granted bail.
