Bengaluru police arrested three people for allegedly staging an abduction to demand a ransom from a businessman in west Bengaluru’s Rajarajeshwari Nagar.
The prime accused has been identified as Manish, 40, who allegedly orchestrated his own abduction along with his two friends to demand a ransom of ₹90 lakh from his 62-year-old father, a businessman.
According to the police, on Tuesday, Manish left Bengaluru, informing his parents that he was going to Gadag to collect money from an individual. However, he took shelter at a house in Belur in Hassan district, along with his friends.
The next morning, Manish called his father on WhatsApp, informing him that he had been abducted by two unidentified men who were demanding a ransom of ₹90 lakh. Subsequently, within a few hours, Manish’s friends called his father to enquire whether he had arranged the money. Following this, Manish’s father filed a police complaint.
The Rajarajeshwari Nagar police used technical leads to trace Manish and found him with his friends in Belur.
