Mangi dam commission starts recording evidence

A judicial inquiry examining the terrorist attack on the Mangi Dam pumping station convened an open session on Tuesday, recording crucial statements from witnesses while taking strong exception to digital rumors and bureaucratic delays affecting victims' families. Presiding over the proceedings, the panel expressed deep apprehension over the rise of unsubstantiated and inflammatory posts across online platforms regarding regional security. The commission warned that unverified claims about terrorism serve only to fuel widespread anxiety and despair among citizens. To address the issue, the bench ordered the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) to submit an official outline of its strategy to counter misleading digital campaigns. The Director of the NCCIA Quetta Circle was formally summoned to attend the next hearing in person. The panel also addressed grievances surrounding delayed financial relief for the families of those killed in the assault. Responding to the inquiry, the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Legal explained that technical errors within succession certificates had stalled the final distribution of funds. To resolve these administrative hurdles, the commission instructed officials to organize a specialized open court session (Khuli Kutchery). The bench emphasized the need for direct, streamlined communication between the victims' legal heirs, the Home Department, and law enforcement legal teams to ensure prompt disbursement without further hardship. In a concurrent matter, the head of the Directorate General for Religious Education appeared before the tribunal to request additional time for compiling data on religious seminaries.
