The ABC is thrilled to announce Bondy: from Hero to Zero, a brand-new podcast presented by satirist Mark Humphries, which launches today on ABC listen. The six-part history series, from ABC Radio National’s Rewind, tells the remarkable true story of disgraced Australian businessman, Alan Bond.

Master salesman, tycoon and con man, Alan Bond won the America’s Cup sailing race in 1983, putting Australia on the global stage and winning the adoration of politicians and the public. This podcast takes listeners from Bond’s sporting highs, to building his global business empire and lavish lifestyle, to his spectacular crash and burn. It uncovers the scandal that saw Bond pay the ultimate price.

Writer, broadcaster and satirist Mark Humphries is best known for his viral political sketches on ABC TV’s 7.30. He cut his teeth as a presenter on ABC2’s nightly comedy show The Roast, then joined SBS Viceland’s The Feed. In 2025 Mark presented the ABC Rewind series Skase: Fall of a Tycoon, is occasional host on ABC Radio’s Weekend Evenings. In 2026 he co-wrote and performed in the sold-out satirical revue The Year in Tatters.
