Marvel Reveals New 'X-Men' Cast; Asa Germann Plays Angel - Tempo.co English

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Marvel Studios has expanded the cast for its upcoming X-Men reboot, bringing in Gen V actor Asa Germann to play Warren Worthington III, also known as the winged mutant Angel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Germann initially auditioned for the role of Cyclops. While Kit Connor ultimately secured the team captain role, studio executives were impressed by Germann's performance and offered him the part of Angel instead.

Germann joins an ensemble cast unveiled following extensive talent testing across the summer, as reported by Deadline. The new mutant roster includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Inde Navarrette as Rogue.

Addressing the assembled cast, Sink noted her optimism regarding the project. "I think a great cast is coming together, and I think people are going to be really excited about it when it’s all announced," Sink stated in comments cited by Deadline.

Additionally, Adam Driver has joined the production as the primary antagonist, Dr. Nathaniel Essex, better known as Mister Sinister, Variety reported.

Directed by Thunderbolts* filmmaker Jake Schreier, the project marks the first standalone X-Men feature developed directly under Disney's Marvel Studios following the acquisition of 20th Century Fox assets. Screenwriters Lee Sung Jin (Beef) and Joanna Calo (The Bear) were tapped to pen the script.

Germann previously played Sam Riordan on the Amazon Prime series Gen V and appeared in Scream 7. His character, Angel, was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1963 and was previously portrayed on screen by Ben Foster in X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) and Ben Hardy in X-Men: Apocalypse (2016).

Marvel Studios has declined to officially comment on the latest casting details, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on May 5, 2028.
