Matt Forte explains what Caleb Williams, Ben Johnson bring to Bears - Bears Wire
The Chicago Bears have plenty of influence in the Windy City, and it's a city that has been starving for a Super Bowl since 1985. But a former member of the organization believes that the right people are in place to end the drought.
Former Chicago standout running back Matt Forte revealed he believes the city is all in on head coach Ben Johnson and quarterback Caleb Williams. Last week on "Good Morning Football," Forte says that Williams and Johnson has the entire city of Chicago behind them.
"There's something about when you get about a coach and quarterback duo that get together and we haven't had that in a long time," Forte said. "We've had the coach but not the quarterback sometimes, and we've had the quarterback without the coach. To get those matched together, it's a special duo to have them, they're both in their own rights, the way Johnson schemes, and the way Williams plays, it's something special. That's why the city is behind everything they're doing right now, and that's why we're hyped about it."
It's been a very long time since the Bears have fielded a team that had the entire city of completely optimistic, and despite the injury to Williams, that optimism is clearly alive and well right now. Depending on how the team fares without Williams in the lineup, the energy could be through the roof when the quarterback does return healthy from his injury.
