Matthew Stafford's comeback win put him among NFL legends - Rams Wire
Matthew Stafford added to his resume in a big way on Sunday during the Los Angeles Rams' 24-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4.
Stafford led the 40th fourth-quarter comeback of his career after the Rams scored 14 unanswered points in the huge win. That puts him with Tom Brady (46), Peyton Manning (43) and Ben Roethlisberger (41) as the only players in NFL history with 40 career fourth-quarter comebacks, according to the Rams public relations team.
It was also Stafford's 51st career game-winning drive. Only Brady (58), Manning (54), Roethlisberger (53) and Drew Brees (53) have more.
The Rams trailed 20-10 at halftime, and the 10-point deficit was still there entering the fourth quarter. Los Angeles then answered with a 10-play, 98-yard drive that took 3:27 and ended with a one-yard Kyren Williams touchdown run with 3:59 left, cutting the Eagles' lead to 20-17. The Rams got the ball back with 2:55 remaining and went 79 yards in 10 plays, using 1:45. Williams finished that drive too, scoring on a 7-yard run with 1:10 left to put Los Angeles ahead for good.
With a lot of season left to go, there's a chance Stafford can continue to add to his career marks. The Rams would likely prefer Stafford to get well ahead before needing some late-game heroics to pull off the win.
