McHenry Sees Democratic House, GOP Leadership Fight

Patrick McHenry, former House Financial Services Committee chair and Bloomberg contributor, says Democrats are likely to win control of the House, though the size of their majority remains uncertain. McHenry says a Republican loss could set up a leadership battle between Jim Jordan and Steve Scalise, with Scalise’s existing leadership infrastructure potentially giving him an advantage. McHenry says Hakeem Jeffries could face a difficult task managing Democrats even if he becomes speaker, particularly with a narrow majority and ideological divisions inside the caucus.
