TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian men’s doubles pair Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin won the badminton gold medal at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games on Tuesday.

Their victory marked Indonesia’s third gold medal at the Games and completed a gold-medal sweep after they also helped the country win the men’s team event.

Leo/Daniel secured the title after defeating China’s Lang Weikeng and Wang Chang 19-21, 21-13, 21-18 in the final at Ichinomiya, Aichi, Japan.

The Indonesian pair surrendered the opening game after Lang/Wang edged them 21-19.

Leo/Daniel put up a close fight in the first game, with the two pairs trading points throughout. The Indonesians occasionally took one- or two-point leads, but Lang/Wang responded with sustained pressure and difficult returns that proved challenging for Leo/Daniel to handle.

Leo/Daniel turned the match around in the second game. The Indonesian duo, reunited for the Asian Games, controlled the game and maintained their advantage to win 21-13.

The Indonesians again took an early lead in the deciding game and held an 11-9 advantage at the interval.

Leo/Daniel maintained their lead until the end of the 62-minute match to secure Indonesia’s third gold medal at the Asian Games.
