Mercedes-Maybach S 580e launched in India at Rs 3.35 crore

Mercedes-Benz has launched the Maybach S 580e in India at Rs 3.35 crore, combining Maybach’s signature luxury and craftsmanship with a plug-in hybrid powertrain and nearly 100km electric range.

Only 30 units of the Mercedes-Maybach S 580e 4MATIC will be available at launch, making it an exclusive addition to the German luxury carmaker’s flagship portfolio. The front features the signature illuminated Maybach grille, complemented by a projected Maybach logo that illuminates the ground when the car is approached.

The luxury limousine also gets illuminated front and rear door sills carrying Maybach lettering. MANUFAKTUR Exclusive two-tone exterior finishes further add to its bespoke character.

The S 580e rides on a sophisticated suspension setup, with cloud-based AIRMATIC air suspension as standard. The system uses real-time navigation data to anticipate changes in road conditions and adjust the damping accordingly. Rear-axle steering, with up to 10 degrees of steering angle, is also standard, helping reduce the turning circle while improving high-speed stability.Mercedes-Maybach S 580e: Interior and features

The India-spec Maybach S 580e is offered exclusively in a four-seat configuration, turning the rear cabin into a private luxury lounge. Two individual Executive rear seats are separated by a full-length Business Centre Console, with wireless charging and temperature-controlled cup holders.

The Rear Comfort Package Plus adds climatised seats, adaptive ambient lighting, rear MBUX controls and additional comfort and safety functions. An Energizing Package is also available, including calf massage.

The cabin is finished in MANUFAKTUR Exclusive Nappa leather in a crystal white and silver-grey pearl combination. It gets piano lacquer trim, a handcrafted Nappa leather roof liner and specially finished seat backrests. Other bespoke touches include a wood-and-leather multifunction steering wheel, designer belt buckles, deep-pile floor mats and a high-gloss white key with rose-gold detailing.

The S 580e also gets a Burmester High-End 4D surround sound system with 31 speakers, eight exciters and 1,610 watts of output. Dolby Atmos and wireless headphones for the rear-seat entertainment system further enhance the experience.

On the technology front, the limousine runs Mercedes-Benz's MB.OS operating system and gets an MBUX Superscreen with a dedicated front-passenger display and privacy function. The Maybach S 580e is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine paired with a plug-in hybrid system and 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The combined output stands at 585hp and 750Nm of torque, with power sent to all four wheels through a 9-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission.

The luxury sedan can travel up to 98km on electric power alone under the WLTP cycle. Mercedes-Benz says the real-world electric range can approach 100km with the use of energy recuperation. It can also reach up to 140kmph in electric mode.

The S 580e gets dedicated Maybach, Electric and Battery Hold driving modes, along with adjustable energy recuperation, including a one-pedal driving function.

Charging is supported at up to 11kW through AC and up to 60kW using DC fast charging. Mercedes-Benz is also offering a complimentary home charging solution with the car, while access to compatible public charging infrastructure is provided through MB.CHARGE.

The plug-in hybrid system gives the Maybach the ability to handle short urban journeys on electric power while retaining the long-distance flexibility of its petrol engine. The model has a WLTP-certified weighted combined fuel efficiency of 34.48kmpl.Mercedes-Maybach S 580e: Safety and ADAS

The S 580e comes equipped with PRE-SAFE and a 15-airbag restraint system, including a centre airbag, rear side airbags, a rear tubular front protection airbag and belt bags.

The limousine also gets MB.DRIVE ASSIST, including Distance Assist DISTRONIC and Steering Assist for lane guidance. Digital Light with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus is offered as standard, while GUARD 360-degree Vehicle Protection Plus adds additional theft prevention, intrusion detection and vehicle security functions.

The Mercedes-Maybach S 580e 4MATIC is priced at Rs 3.35 crore (ex-showroom) in India, with deliveries limited to 30 units at launch.
