Meteorological Department Issue 3 Warns Upper Thailand to Prepare for Thunderstorms, Hail Increased Rainfall in South - Thairath English

The Meteorological Department's third announcement warns upper Thailand to prepare for thunderstorms, strong gusts, and hail from 5 to 7 November. Meanwhile, from 7 to 9 November, the southern region will see increased and heavy rainfall in many areas.

At 17:00 on 2 November 2026, the Meteorological Department issued the third announcement regarding unstable weather conditions over upper Thailand and heavy to very heavy rainfall in the southern region, effective from 5 to 9 November 2026.

From 5 to 7 November 2026, upper Thailand will experience unstable weather characterized by thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hail, and heavy rain in some areas. The northeastern region will be affected first, followed by the north, central region including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the eastern region. The public is advised to be cautious of dangers from thunderstorms and strong winds and to avoid open areas, large trees, and unstable billboards.

From 7 to 9 November 2026, the southern region will have increased rainfall with heavy rain in many areas and very heavy rain in some places. People should be wary of accumulated rain that may cause flash floods and landslides, especially in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying zones.

This is due to a high-pressure system or a new cold air mass from China spreading over upper Thailand and the South China Sea, causing strengthening easterly winds over Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand.

For waves and winds in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand in areas with thunderstorms, wave heights will exceed 2 meters. Mariners in these waters should navigate with caution and avoid sailing in areas experiencing thunderstorms.

For safety and to minimize potential impacts, the public is advised to plan their activities and travel carefully during this period. People should continuously follow updates from the Meteorological Department, which can be accessed on their website.http://www.tmd.go.thOr by calling 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182, available 24 hours a day.
