A group of military attachés participated in a hands-on activity to make straw sandals while learning about the history of the Long March.

The handmade footwear, made from straw and bamboo fiber, was worn by the Red Army soldiers on a journey of about 12,500 kilometers that included rugged mountain paths and frozen terrain.

Many foreign guests keep them as souvenirs in tribute to the hardships the Red Army endured.
