Minor earthquake near Vijayapura

A minor earthquake was felt around Bagewadi in Vijayapura district on Tuesday. There were no reports of damage.

The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) reported that an earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale was recorded early morning within the limits of Dinadavara Gram Panchayat in Basavana Bagevadi Taluk.

The earthquake occurred on Tuesday at 12.26 a.m., with its epicenter located 1.1 km southwest of Dinadavara Gram Panchayat.

The KSNDMC stated that the tremor originated at a depth of 10 km below the surface. It is situated three km south east of Ingaleshwar Gram Panchayat, 5.3 km south-southwest of Rabinala village and 5.5 km west of Kamanakeri village. The location is 11.5 km northeast of Basavana Bagevadi and 40 km southwest of Vijayapura city, said a release.
