Minor girl gang-raped and murdered in Delhi's Swaroop Nagar, 4 apprehended

A minor girl was allegedly gang-raped and murdered in Delhi's Swaroop Nagar, with her body found lying in an open field near Kushak Road on September 13. Police have now apprehended four people in connection with the case, including three juveniles aged between 16 and 17.

The fourth accused has been identified as Shivam alias Sudama. During the investigation, police found that the girl had allegedly been raped before being murdered. A case was registered under relevant sections for rape and murder, along with Section 6 of the POCSO Act.

Police teams searched the area but initially found no eyewitnesses who had heard or seen anything related to the crime.CCTV TRAIL REVEALS SUSPECTED TEMPO

Investigators then began examining CCTV footage from the surrounding areas. A tempo was spotted moving through the area under suspicious circumstances, but its registration number could not initially be identified because of darkness and poor visibility.

Police subsequently tracked the vehicle's movement along its suspected route and analysed footage from more than 50 CCTV cameras. The trail eventually led them to a tempo parked in Khadda Colony.

Police detained and questioned the tempo driver, following which three juveniles and Shivam alias Sudama were apprehended.

Investigators recovered two knives and blood-stained clothes allegedly worn by the accused during the crime. The tempo was also recovered.

Police are questioning all four accused and examining their individual roles in the alleged rape and murder. Investigators are also probing whether anyone else was involved.

The investigation has further revealed that one of the accused and the victim allegedly knew each other beforehand.
