The post-mortem examination of a three-and-a-half-year-old girl who was found dead in fields near her home three days after she went missing has revealed multiple injuries and signs of severe trauma, raising questions about the circumstances of her death.
Police said the medical report in the case of Armesh Zahra documented injuries to several parts of her body, including the face, eyes, mouth and ears.
According to the report, an injury and swelling were observed on the girl's lower lip, while fractures were reportedly found in one arm and a leg. The report also noted bleeding from the genital area, police said.
The findings have prompted investigators to examine the circumstances surrounding the child's death from different angles, officials said.
However, Gujrat District Police Officer (DPO) said the initial investigation suggested that the girl might have died after being struck by stones while playing with other children.
According to the DPO, the preliminary inquiry indicated that stones were allegedly thrown while the children were playing, causing injuries that proved fatal.
He stressed that the findings were part of the initial investigation and that police were continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the death.
Armesh had gone missing from her home three days before her body was recovered from fields in the vicinity, near an area around a rainwater drain.
