Mirzapur The Movie is showing no signs of disappearing from the big screen just yet. The film held its ground on the second Sunday, with audiences continuing to turn up for the big-screen return of Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit and Munna Tripathi. The big box office question for Mirzapur: The Movie now is whether it can turn a strong opening run into a Rs 300 crore worldwide haul.
According to Sacnilk, the film stayed steady on its second Sunday, taking its worldwide collection to Rs 266.04 crore after 10 days.On Day 10, the film earned Rs 13.25 crore nett across 7,225 shows in India. Its India gross stood at Rs 220.04 crore, while its total India nett collection reached Rs 184.70 crore. The Sunday figure was only 1.9 per cent lower than Saturday’s Rs 13.50 crore, suggesting that the film is holding up well in its second weekend.The film also added Rs 4 crore from overseas markets on Day 10, taking its overseas gross to Rs 46 crore. Mirzapur: The Movie was screened across 6,763 shows on Friday, 7,183 on Saturday and 7,225 on Sunday. Overall occupancy rose from 29 per cent on Friday to 37 per cent on Saturday and 38 per cent on Sunday.The Hindi 2D version performed particularly well on Sunday, recording 45.53 per cent overall occupancy. Afternoon and evening shows saw the strongest response, with occupancies of 53 per cent and 57.15 per cent respectively.The film brings the popular Mirzapur franchise to the big screen, directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna. Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment, the story is set between Episodes 6 and 7 of Season 1 of the original series.The film also brings back several familiar faces, including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit and Divyenndu as Munna Tripathi.
