Mississippi surges, LSU tumbles in college football's NCAA Re-Rank 1-138 - USA Today
Ole Miss jumps into the top four while LSU and Lane Kiffin drop out of the top 10 in the latest USA TODAY Sports NCAA Re-Rank 1-138.
The Rebelsβ emotional 32-24 win could have an impact on the SEC race, the College Football Playoff and the debate for the Heisman Trophy. Along with a victory against Louisville in the opener, itβs enough to move Ole Miss up six spots to No. 4, behind No. 1 Texas, No. 2 Notre Dame and No. 3 Georgia.
This climb moves Ole Miss ahead of No. 5 Miami and pushes back a pair of Big Ten contenders in No. 6 Indiana and No. 7 Ohio State.
Meanwhile, LSU goes from No. 7 to No. 13 after failing to overcome a 24-7 halftime deficit. The Tigers come in fifth among SEC teams and are one of 10 SEC teams in the top 30 of the re-rank.
Another team from the SEC making a nice leap in this weekβs 1-138 is No. 17 Florida. After posting a win at Auburn on Saturday night, itβs clear the Gators are beginning to put things together under new coach Jon Sumrall.
Three notable teams taking a nosedive in the re-rank are No. 31 Texas A&M, which was embarrassed at home by Kentucky; No. 38 Virginia, losers on a neutral site to West Virginia; and No. 59 South Carolina, which dropped 17 spots after losing to Mississippi State.
The Mountaineers and Bulldogs are making a move up the re-rank. WVU lands at No. 25 after topping the Cavaliers and the Bulldogs are up to No. 27 after moving to 3-0 thanks to the outstanding play of quarterback Kamario Taylor.
