MK Party rallies volunteers in Phoenix ahead of 2026 local elections - IOL

The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, led by former president Jacob Zuma, held its Volunteers Campaign Material and People's Mandate Launch on Sunday at the Rydalvale Sports Ground in Phoenix. 

The gathering included volunteers, members, and supporters, as they collectively prepared for the upcoming local government elections. 

The event emphasised the party’s ongoing commitment to grassroots mobilisation, community engagement, and representing the people’s interests.    

KZN MK spokesperson, Mkhuseli Mlengane, said their programmes were taking place at various venues, and Phoenix should not be excluded.    

“As we march towards consolidating our political power, it is important that the presence of the organisation is felt across all communities. We have members and leaders in the Phoenix area. Therefore, it is only natural that the area forms part of our activities and mobilisation efforts. 

“Our approach is simple: wherever our people are, uMkhonto weSizwe must be present, organised and active,” said Mlengane.
