The IFP has named Johannesburg Human Settlements MMC Mlungisi Mabaso as its mayoral candidate, the first time the party has fielded a mayoral candidate in the city.
Mabaso is running from inside the city machine, with housing and informal settlement issues already on his desk.
His priorities include jobs, economic recovery, infrastructure maintenance, law and order, youth development, township revitalisation and tackling hijacked buildings.
The IFP is making a Joburg mayoral play, and it is doing it through a housing MMC.
