Modi-ED-VD caucus operating in Keralam, says Chintha Jerome

Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) State president Chintha Jerome has launched a scathing attack on the State government, alleging that a ‘Modi-ED-VD caucus’ is actively operating in Keralam.
Speaking to the media in Kollam, she added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan were operating on a dual-option formula of forcing compliance or silencing Opposition voices. Criticising the Chief Minister’s political stance, Ms. Jerome said Mr. Satheesan had adopted a pro-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stand, colluding with the BJP to target former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Accusing the government of operating under a cloud of secrecy, Ms. Jerome demanded that the Chief Minister and Cabinet Ministers publicly disclose the financiers funding their official and private travels.
She pointed out that while the United Democratic Front (UDF) leadership claims their flights and foreign trips are sponsor-backed, some Ministers are touring the State in luxury cars reportedly provided by friends. Terming this a violation of the oath of office, she alleged that accepting anonymous patronage implies hidden quid pro quo arrangements, effectively reducing the administration into a government run for corporate sponsors, and one that mocks the general public.
Stepping up her criticism regarding local infrastructural hardships, she likened Sports Minister O.J. Janeesh to Emperor Nero, stating that while the public and BPL families are suffering through severe power cuts, the Minister is detached and talking about relaxation.
Furthermore, she accused the administration of attempting to saffronise universities by accommodating pro-BJP figures within Syndicates and senates, warning that efforts to suppress student politics will be fiercely resisted.
Reiterating that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is being utilised as a political baton by the Central government to silence dissenting voices, Ms. Jerome maintained that any attempts to falsely implicate Mr. Vijayan will be met with resolute political and legal resistance.
She added that whenever Central agencies step in, the State administration willingly clears the path, asserting that Mr. Satheesan is willing to go to any lengths to accommodate the BJP’s agenda.
