Former Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik on Friday (October 2, 2026) lashed out at the Mohan Charan Majhi Government calling it the epitome of mismanagement and inefficiency.
“This government couldn’t even properly manage a single Rath Yatra. Mismanagement in flood relief, mismanagement in paddy procurement, mismanagement in recruitment examinations, mismanagement in financial management. This government has failed in every task. People are saying that perhaps the Odisha BJP government has acquired special expertise in mismanagement,” said Mr. Patnaik.
“There are no textbooks for children. No pensions for the elderly. Farmers are distressed. Mothers are distressed. There is no law and order. Failure everywhere and mismanagement everywhere,” he wrote on X.
“The central government has taken away the rights of Odisha’s residents over mines, and the Odisha government is silent. 20 BJP MPs are silent for Odisha’s residents. But they are ready to fight for mine owners. It is good not to talk about textbooks for children. Thousands of mistakes. But this government is reluctant to take responsibility,” said Mr. Patnaik.
“Revenue collection in Odisha is declining. Budget expenditures can’t be spent. No work is getting done. Yet the debt burden is increasing. Where is this money going?,” he asked.
The BJD on Friday (October 2, 2026) launched ‘Jan Sampark Padayatra’, its annual month-long public outreach programme on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Addressing the launch of public outreach programme, Mr. Patnaik said Odisha is currently passing through a difficult period.
