More complaints emerge after arrest of CEO of Kochi-based immigration firm, say police

More people have started making complaints against a Kochi-based immigration services firm following the arrest of its founder and chief executive officer, Parvathy Maya Shaji, the police said on Friday (September 25, 2026).
The Palarivattom police, probing the case, said they had come across at least 25 complaints from different parts of the State against the firm. “Most of them want only their money back and are not keen to pursue a case. So far, we have registered only two cases against the firm and those at its helm,” an officer said.
The police have been granted the custody of Ms. Shaji till 11 a.m. on Saturday (September 26, 2026) by a court, and further action in the case will be taken following the interrogation of the accused, the officer said.
Ms. Shaji, identified as the founder-CEO of Amster Overseas Private Limited on the company’s website, was arrested by the Palarivattom police on Thursday (September 24, 2026) after she was detained upon arrival from abroad in Thiruvananthapuram.
The cases against her pertain to complaints from two persons from Erumapetty in Thrissur and Mamala in Ernakulam, who alleged that they were cheated after being promised jobs in Armenia and Poland, respectively.
According to the first information report registered on January 10, 2026, the firm cheated the complainant of ₹60,6000 in 2025 by promising a warehouse job in Poland. Apart from Ms. Shaji and her company, Aju K. Mathew and Abhijith S. Nair, identified as general manager and coordinator of the firm, respectively, have also been named as accused in the case.
The Erumappetty native has, meanwhile, accused the firm of cheating her husband of ₹4 lakh in December 2023 by promising a job with a monthly salary of ₹1.5 lakh in Armenia, according to the FIR registered on August 22, 2026. Ms. Shaji’s husband Aneesh Menon, Abhijith, Aju K. Mathew, Vishnu Vijayan, and Shaji, all allegedly linked with the company, are the other accused in the case.
