Mother's photo hanging from neck, Harish Rawat reaches ED office for questioning
Former Uttarakhand chief minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat arrived at the Enforcement Directorate's Dehradun office on Saturday for questioning in a 2016 case linked to alleged irregularities in a recruitment examination.
Before the questioning, he shared a video saying he had received an ED notice two days earlier summoning him.
The case relates to alleged irregularities in the 2016 Village Panchayat Development Officer recruitment examination conducted by the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission.
Rawat said the probe agency had sought a large number of documents from him, including his past Income Tax Returns and details of his assets and those of his family members.
As he entered the central agency's office, the Congress leader wore a photograph of his mother around his neck.

Rawat said he has a large family and that his daughters are married, which made it difficult to gather old documents for every member.
In connection with the matter, the ED carried out searches at several locations in Dehradun on September 10, including the residence of Chandan Singh Jeena, Rawat's current personal assistant.
Jeena had also served as Rawat's Officer on Special Duty (OSD) during his tenure as chief minister. Rawat said he had not informed anyone beforehand about his visit to the ED office.
On September 12, Rawat announced that he would step down from all party posts after the ED recovered cash and jewellery from his personal assistant's house.- Ends(With inputs from PTI)
