MQM rally for six new administrative units today

Senior leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Dr Farooq Sattar has announced that the party would hold a national rally from Ayesha Manzil to the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on Sunday. Addressing a press conference at Ayesha Manzil, Dr Sattar said the objective of the rally was to struggle for the rights of the underprivileged people. He said the rally was aimed at conveying to the 75 million people of Sindh and the 250 million people of Pakistan the need for new administrative units. He said the rally would seek to provide political leadership to the people and involve them in ending decades of political stagnation and the dominance of feudal elites. Dr Sattar said that devolution of political and administrative powers was essential for good governance. He alleged that country's assets were being wasted and people, particularly those living in Sindh's urban areas, were being denied their rights and basic facilities. He said six new administrative units would be created within the geographical boundaries of Sindh and maintained that Sindhis from different communities would work together to manage them.
