Multiple people killed in California shooting near Monterey - USA Today
Multiple people were killed in a shooting in California overnight, and authorities are at the scene of the gunfire, officials said on Nov. 2.
The shooting took place just after midnight in Moss Landing, a community about 18 miles northeast of Monterey, Monterey County Sheriffβs Office's Andy Rosas told USA TODAY.
California State Parks Police have closed nearby roads and Moss Landing State Beach at the request of the sheriffβs office, and residents were being asked to avoid the area.
"There is no active threat to the community," Rosas said. The sheriff's office declined to provide additional information, citing the active investigation.
