Mumbai creator's 'safest, smoothest ride' with woman Rapido rider has 2 million views

A regular Rapido ride turned into a feel-good experience when a Mumbai-based content creator realised the rider coming to pick her up was a woman. She was so pleased by the surprise that she decided to document the ride.

Ruchika Rajput shared a video of the ride on Instagram, that showed her waiting on a busy street for her Rapido captain. Then she spotted the rider approaching, realised she is a woman and immediately sounded excited about the journey.

After that, Ruchika recorded the ride, filming snippets from the journey and sharing her experience on the back of the bike. What started as a simple commute soon became something she thoroughly loved.

After reaching her destination, she described the journey as one of the “safest and smoothest” Rapido rides she has had in a while.

But for Ruchika, the ride was about more than just getting from one place to another. Before wrapping up the video, she thanked her captain and spoke about how seeing women take up jobs that are often associated with men can encourage more women to consider similar opportunities.

The rider named Alina Khan, also responded to the post in the comments.

A much larger audience than the one passenger was sitting behind Alina that day. It had crossed 2.6 million views at the time of reporting, with viewers watching the brief but memorable encounter unfold.

There is no grand twist to the story. Just a woman booking a ride, another woman turning up to drive it and a few minutes on a Mumbai road that left a lasting impression.
