A routine food delivery at a Mumbai housing society took a disturbing turn when a delivery worker was caught urinating inside a lift and then drinking it. Initially, the housekeeping staff and residents suspected that a pet or a dog might have soiled the lift. However, when society members checked the CCTV footage to find out what had happened, they were shocked by what the camera had captured.

According to society resident Girish, the footage showed a delivery worker who had come to deliver food urinating inside the lift.

The footage further showed the man urinating into his hand and then drinking it.

Following the discovery, residents had the lift cleaned by the housekeeping staff.CCTV FOOTAGE SHARED ON SOCIAL MEDIA

The society management decided to share the CCTV clip on social media and tagged Zomato management and local authorities, seeking attention to the incident.

According to residents, when they contacted the company's customer care, they were told that the delivery worker had been removed from the service.

However, residents said they considered the action inadequate and wanted accountability towards the customer to whose home the food was being delivered and the housing society where the incident took place.POLICE COMPLAINT BEING PREPARED

Residents also tried to contact the delivery worker on his registered mobile number, but the number was found to be invalid.

A delegation from the society has since reached the police station and started the process of filing a complaint.

Residents have demanded strict legal action over the act of creating an unhygienic situation in a public space and said such action was necessary to prevent similar incidents in the future.- Ends
