Nara Lokesh warns action against YSRCP leaders over alleged attack on DSC teachers

IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh has said that the leaders and activists of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) allegedly involved in the attack on teachers recruited through DSC-2025 during a protest in Vijayawada on Monday would not be spared.

“Wherever they hide, even in the Andamans, we will catch them and take action against them,” Mr. Lokesh said.

He was speaking at a coordination meeting of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders and cadre in Raptadu after unveiling the statues of former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao and former MLA Paritala Ravi.

Addressing the meeting, Mr. Lokesh alleged that YSRCP leaders and activists had “indiscriminately attacked” teachers near the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) office. “We will not spare a single person involved in the attack,” he said.

Mr. Lokesh dared YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to fix a date and time for a debate with him on the DSC recruitment issue. “We will also discuss the issue of adulterated liquor and alleged irregularities in APPSC appointments during your tenure. If you have any grievance against me, settle it with me. I will not tolerate teachers being dragged into our political differences,” he said.

On the upcoming local body elections, Mr. Lokesh said it was the responsibility of the party cadre to ensure a “100% victory” for the TDP. He asked the cadre to gear up for the elections scheduled for next month and create awareness among people about the development and welfare measures taken by the NDA government.

“Every single vote is crucial in the upcoming elections. Let us set aside minor differences and move forward,” he said.

Mr. Lokesh asserted that continuity in government was crucial for the State to achieve all-round development. “Odisha and Gujarat have developed because the same government remained in power there consecutively. In our State, the TDP has won consecutive terms only once,” he said.

He said TDP cadre had been harassed and false cases foisted against them between 2019 and 2024, but they had stood their ground and fought back. He assured the party cadre that both senior and junior workers who worked hard for the party would be recognised.
