National Taxi Alliance warns of national protest as operators battle rising costs - EWN

The National Taxi Alliance (NTA) has warned of possible protest action over the government’s lack of intervention in the affordability crisis.

This followed the alliance's criticism of Transport Minister Barbara Creecy, alleging she failed to deliver meaningful relief to the taxi industry.

Included in its broader economic and public transport reforms requests to the department, the NTA has proposed to introduce a targeted fuel rebate for qualifying minibus taxi operators for a minimum period of 12 months.

They have also proposed cheaper financing options.
